Prithee, Do Not Ask for Love

Well…I WAS having a good day. Up until about five minutes ago.

Some of you know the history I have had with certain Monkees people on FB, with fake profiles/crazy people operating under fake profiles and the like. Well, one such person just messaged me, on my fan page, with this:

Amy I just found your fb profile. Is this you in this photo: http://vulcanicnews.com/desperation/ I have been asking bc I found it on my son’s friends page and I remembered you. It’s been viewed over 75,000 times in the last year. Pleas do not post suggestive pictures of yourself on the internet because some ppl will take it and it will be on the internet somewhere forever. As a mother I am telling you to be careful. There was another one that someone named arnold put up and kids think it’s funny but it’s not funny. They are just 14 but I know better. I think this is terrible and cruel and I think you should ask the sight to take it down. Be more careful and take care of your reputation.

Now, if you look at that link, that’s one of those very cruel meme things that people sometimes make on the Internet. I’ve seen that before, actually, but on a different site, and I remember having it taken down from the one site. That picture is about six years old, from when I was living in Seattle, and the only place I posted it was on my Myspace (when I still had one). So whoever made the meme probably got it from there.

The thing is, I’m not really that pissed off about that meme. It’s juvenile and stupid, and if a bunch of immature fuckwits who don’t know me from Adam want to take my picture and do that, they can just go get bent. What pisses me off is this woman’s message, and how she is blaming me for it.

First of all, that is hardly what I’d call a “suggestive” picture. It’s my doofy ass in a red bathing suit—nothing more, nothing less. Second of all, people have been taking people’s photos and manipulating them in all sorts of ways since the dawn of photography. I do not consider what these shitheads did to my picture to be any sort of threat to my “reputation,” because I did nothing wrong. So why am I the one being blamed?

Jesus Christ on a fajita, I can’t even. This is why I have tried to separate myself from these Monkees fans, because one message like this (out of nowhere), and I’m all angry again. I don’t know who this lady thinks she is (though I have a pretty good idea, and it’s not what her profile name would suggest), but I wish she and everyone else from this whole thing would just leave me the hell alone. UGH.
